Have you ever walked into a place and literally squealed? I felt like that today when walking up the stairs to check on progress at the new photography studio. The new door was up with the new address sign (which must replaced with something prettier, STAT). And now I’m investigating sign options for the front of the door as well as frosting options for the glass to give my new mommas some privacy. And again, all pictures taken with my ever present iPhone. Not nearly as great as my full frame Nikon, but hey! You get the idea right?
Studio Door

And the view right as you open the door. There will be an HVAC over the firedoor to heat and cool the studio. Newborn photography sessions need to be notoriously warm so the individual heat/cool is a must have! Right now there is no ac. Which is fine for a beautiful April morning but not so great for an August afternoon.
Interior view

The floors have been cleaned and they have a ton of character. Which basically means they look old!
Wide interior view

I have a store room that will be separate from the shooting space, accessible by an interior door. And I am seriously amazed every time I see those windows!! There are already a few maternity sessions in the works in front of those beauties.
Shooting space #1
This will probably be my main shooting space. Right now the ceiling is ripped out for one reason or another… who knows with renovations on 100 year old buildings! I’m envisioning a settee in the middle for family sessions and a bed for maternity and baby sessions. I’ll be using the space to the right with my studio lights supplementing the natural light from the windows. I’m going to be hanging the seamless paper in the far space, although I wish the smooth wall and good wood floor was closer to the window…

Exposed brick wall
Flip a 180 and you get to the exposed brick wall. Beautiful huh? Still need to rough up that plaster…

Seating area
Flip again to get to the main seating area. This will house my couch, chairs, changing table, and product displays. I’m headed to the Cameron Antique Festival this weekend to hunt down some decorating treasures!
And a final look on the way out. Next up, electric! Then I can have lights and an HVAC. Yeah!!!
