The boutique photography studio is located in historic Southern Pines, right on Broad Street and across from the train station. It's a fantastic location nestled in-between shops, restaurants, even the Sunrise Theater.
The building itself was built in the era of hardwood floors, tin ceilings, and plastered brick walls. The photography studio has carefully retained the rustic charm of the past while providing modern day comforts. Three giant windows let in beautiful natural light, but studio lighting is also available if your session requires it or the weather isn't cooperating.
The entire space was designed to make your family feel at home. There is a couch for you to lounge on, outlets to plug in a pump if needed, and a changing table to tend to diapers after your session. There will even be drinks and snacks waiting just for you.
The sitting room is decorated in all of SHP’s product offerings so you can touch, feel, and hold all the different choices. It has direct lines of sight to all the shooting bays so you can see the entire session take place from the comfort of the couch.
Southern Pines is just a short 20 minute drive from Fort Bragg, 30 minutes from Raeford, and a little less than an hour from downtown Fayetteville, Cary, and Raleigh. It's the perfect place to spend an afternoon before or after your session. Come stroll down Broad Street and pop into all the fun local shops like Belli Bambini for children's clothing, Marie & Marcelle Boutique for my personal favorite women's clothing, a yummy cupcake at C. Cups or the best crepe you've ever had at Betsy's. If you are around mid-morning you'll even get to see the train rolling down the center of Broad Street. Kids love it!
Since 2010, Kara has been documenting the lives of children all over the Sandhills region of North Carolina. From Fayetteville to Raleigh and beyond, her signature style has drawn discerning clients who desire an exceptional experience from start to finish.
She brings her own personal life experience as a mother and has an innate ability to bond with people and interact with children. Being a military wife has taught her much about life. She's learned patience, honor, sacrifice, and the importance of every single day that is spent with loved ones. Today is a blessing while tomorrow is an uncertainty. But the joy of childhood and the bond of a family lives on in every portrait.
