I love babies, can you tell? It’s an obvious plus for my profession given all the cuddling, soothing, coaxing, holding, rocking, and lovin’ that goes along with being able to capture great images. I would really love to add birth or hospital photography to my offerings but with a constantly deployed husband and three babies of my own, my time is in short supply.
And today I was so excited to visit one of my favorite clients in the hospital to photograph their brand new little one. Baby Shane made his entrance yesterday just three short days after his dad made it back from a loooong deployment. I was worried on her maternity session she was going to go into labor! But Shane is already very well behaved and waited two days after his daddy made it home. Welcome home Dad and congratulations “W” family! I can’t wait for Shane’s studio session next week so I can cuddle him some more!!
Photographing newborns in the studio is one of my favorite types of sessions but photographing in the hospital offers a different point of view on a fresh new life. I recently got to photograph my own little boy’s first few days of life while before we were discharged from the hospital and those are the only pictures of his newborn-ness that I have printed out to hang on my own walls. These sessions are seriously growing on me =)
